Twenty-five years ago, nobody would have thought that an unknown salamander species discovery made in a hidden creek of an insignificant little island on Java by a man named Vantoch, a mariner of a Dutch merchant ship, will cause the doom of humanity. However, it became reality. With the rapidly growing population of salamanders, humans themselves let it happen. It seemed quite improbable back then, as the newts were so helpless and lovely and, as it turned out later, also fast-learners and hard-workers. They were also modest, didn´t talk back and did as they were told just to get some food and a place to live. A real blessing for the human great plans of limitless economic growth. The chase for abundance and wealth brought people to a tragic end.
