24 is a new low-budget Czech road movie. Beyond the obvious contribution made by the two main protagonists, summertime also plays an important role, as does the captivating camerawork and the original musical score. The film’s principal character, whose name remains unknown, amuses himself by hacking into banking systems through the Internet and then making financial transfers with the help of his pocket computer. One day, however, the jig is up. His victims make themselves heard, firmly determined to retrieve their stolen money. Our ultramodern hero resolves the situation by escaping rather unconventionally in a red Chrysler. 24 deals with the notion that someday we must all set out on a journey, forfeiting someone in order to find ourselves.
