FILMS – SUCCESS – CAREER – DISAPPOINTMENT – FRIENDS – FAMILY – CRUELTY – CHILDHOOD – THE VIRTUE OF POWER – REBELLION – FREEDOM… These are the basic pillars of this visually spectacular documentary by director Miloslav Šmídmajer, which seeks the answers to a few key questions: Why did Milos Forman have to shoot some films the way he did? Where does his internal strength spring from? What is his life story? Are you expecting a portrait recalling the milestones of Forman’s career and his famous films? Don’t. Because we’re going to tell you a story about cruelty, losing parents and losing sons, about the power of overcoming demons. About the desire to succeed and to be free… Milos Forman lost his parents during childhood. Twenty-seven years later, his first sons lost their father, who was forced to emigrate and remain abroad. Only now are they making up for what others experience as youth… Multiple trying experiences compelled him to make certain movies (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The People vs. Larry Flint, Goya’s Ghosts). You will spend 100 minutes in Milos Forman’s company and learn more about his life and thinking than ever before. You’ll peer into his private life, his sorrows… You’ll enjoy snippets of his famous films, meet famous personalities from the film world, experience the night he won the Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, see a number of rare scenes… The documentary took roughly five years to make and was shot in New York, Connecticut, Paris, Valencia, Madrid, Prague and other locations in the Czech Republic.
