We live in times when television churns out one reality show after another to amuse us. Thus our emotionally arid contemporary society artificially feeds on the stories of people whose futures are shaped by dozens of professionals. The film titled Cinematherapy has chosen a different method. In advertisements on Czech Television viewers were invited to participate in a casting event where they were to tell their life stories. Eleven winners then underwent cinematherapy offered to them by the camera as mediator between them and the outside world. Ivan Vojnar is the director of this film, which is something between a live-action movie, a documentary and a reality show. To these eleven protagonists he offers neither plastic surgery operations nor encounters with long-lost friends; he bids them a look back at their often bizarre lives, allowing them to shed the burning traumas we all carry around within.
