Czechoslovak economic transformation of the 1990s, presented as the key to the transformation of totalitarian society into a democracy, was at the same time publicly understood as the process of wealth redistribution – from the state to the people. This process formed a new, up to the present day lasting structures of political and economic elite. The ten richest contemporary Czechs came to their wealth in this process of property redistribution. Despite its enormous influence on the character of our contemporary society, the transformation process is still veiled in mystery. However, while the issue has not lost its importance, after almost two decades a number of that day politicians and other involved people are finally willing to speak openly even about their own failures.
