Fiction

In early 1930s, a remarkable modernist villa is built in Czechoslovakia for a wealthy Jewish family Landauer. The family life dreamt up by Liesel, bathed in light and clarity of the focal point of the house - the “Glass Room” - augmented by a relationship with her inseparable friend Hana, does not endure. Sense of unfulfilled love, discovery of betrayal and Nazi threat overtake this transparent space. In panic caused by the German invasion, the Landauers flee their home, leaving everything behind. An affair with a German engineer Stahl allows Hana to return to the magical Glass Room, where her memories of Liesel and the pre-war days are reinvigorated. The forced separation of Liesel and Hana seems to strengthen their feelings for each other. Will hope, symbolized by Glass Room, prevail?
