Paolo Piangino is an unassuming, happy little man who lives with his cat and who loves to cry. Because his tears mean the world to him. When he is sad, his tears comfort him, and when he is happy, his tears make him even happier. One day, the townspeople watch with fascination as red flowers sprout wherever Paolo‘s tears fall. These tears make Paolo a local celebrity. The townspeople are thrilled - everyone wants to invite him over, everyone hopes to get some tears from him. But the commotion soon overwhelms Paolo. Secretly, quietly, he slips away. All he leaves behind are a few flowers and a great many people in the small town who begin to weep bitter tears. Who knows, maybe one day their tears will turn into real tears of joy?
